With our campus within sight of the flightpath into Kagoshima airport, we are daily reminded of our students’ dreams of becoming pilots.

Even though I am a teacher and not a pilot, I fly frequently within Japan and overseas and, in the last ten years with the dramatic growth in international travel there has been much greater recruitment of pilots from countries all over the world. While a pilot’s native language (eg. Japanese) can be used on domestic flights, flying overseas means pilots must communicate in English

I am excited that from the Spring semester 2021 we will be teaching English for Aviation, as well as the conversational English we have always taught. We will teach students how to communicate in real English with Air Traffic Controllers and other pilots anywhere in the world.

In our training, the real emphasis is on Speaking and Listening and we will have plenty of activities to encourage our students to practice them.

We want to unlock all the grammar and vocabulary that our students have studied through six years of junior and senior high school English, and help them to put words in the right order and to speak English with confidence.
